Welcome to Civil Court Koderma

Koderma district (Hindiकोडरमा जिला) is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Koderma is the administrative headquarters of this district.

Koderma district was created on 10 April 1994, after being carved out of the original Hazaribagh district. It is currently a part of theRed Corridor.

Koderma district lies in the Chhotanagpur Plateau at 397m above the sea level.The area exhibits undulating topography comprising hills, hillocks, plains and mounds. Northern part of the district is occupied by Koderma Reserve Forest. The highest peak is Debour Ghati (677 metre), which is the boundary of the State Jharkhand & Bihar.

The section line from South to North from Jharkhand to Bihar is passing through Hazaribag plateau. The rock at the edge of this plateau has been cut deeply by innumerable streams. There are number of hills & gullies of various types such as figure or shoe-lace gullies

Barakar River flows from West to East in the Southern part of the district of Koderma and supports Telaiya Hydel project, a multi purpose dam construction on it. River flows from West to East Poanchkhara, Keso, Akto, Gurio, Gukhana Nadi are the main tributaries of the Barakar river.

About Koderma Judgeship

The Koderma judgeship was established on 26th June 2001.

Earlier to 2001 when Koderma judgeship was established, District judge used to sit in Hazaribagh and used to do the sessions work there. The SDJM Court in Koderma came into being in the year 1982 and thereafter several courts like ACJM, CJM, ADJ came into existence respectively and finally in the year 2001, it was declared a Civil and Sessions court of Koderma.

There are 3 court Buildings in the court premises . oldest building of Judgeship is Sessions Court building which was built in 1982 is still present in Koderma Judgeship.

The sanctioned courts in Koderma judgeship is 13 and these courts are divided into 3 buildings i.e. called as Old Court Rooms Building, Four Court Rooms Building, PDJ Court Building, PLA Block and Lockup Block.

Koderma is bordered by Nawada district of Bihar on the North, Gaya district of Bihar on the West, Giridih district of Jharkhand on the east, and Hazaribag district of Jharkhand on the South.

Koderma is surrounded by forests and lots of natural resources, Dhwajadhari Pahar (hill) is dedicated to Lord SHIVA and on occasion of MAHASHIVRATRI lots of devotees get together to worship Lord Shiva. During rainy season and winter season, the hill is covered with clouds, which increases it's beauty.

Koderma district is richly endowed with natural resources. At one time, Koderma was considered as the mica capital of India. During that time, the townships of Koderma and Jhumri Tilaiya had seen the rise of several mica tycoons, including the houses of Bhadanis, and Rajgarhias. Now it the fastest developing city in Jharkhand.

Koderma holds the world record of the largest deposits of mica in the world.
