About District court Barabanki

History

Civil Courts Till 1930, Barabanki was under the jurisdiction of District Judge, Lucknow for the purpose of administration of Civil Justice. In 1930 ,A separate District Judge, who was also functioning as the District Registrar at that time, was appointed for the District Barabanki. He exercised administrative control over the Civil Judiciary in the district. He used to hear civil & criminal appeals and try Sessions Cases. Besides this there was a Civil Judge for the disposal of ordinary civil suits of higher valuation, a temporary Civil and Sessions Judge and two Munsifs, one of whom was designated Munsif, Barabanki and the other Munsif, Ram Sanehi Ghat.

Criminal Court

For Criminal Justice, in addition to the 13 stipendiary magistrates; Deputy Collectors, Judicial Officers and Tehsildars (all second class Magistrates), there were two honorary Special Magistrates with first class powers: One of them was for the Nawabganj Tehsil and the other for Haidergarh Tehsil, both holding court in Nawabganj. Criminal appeals against the decision of all magistrates were lie to the Sessions Judge and revisions to the Hon'ble High Court of judicature in Allahabad (Lucknow Bench).

Present Scenario

At present, District Civil Court for the District Barabanki is situated in Town Barabanki on Lucknow -Faizabad Road. The sanctioned strength of courts is 28 out of which one court of District & Sessions Judge, 9 courts of Additional District & Sessions Judge including Special Judge(SC/ST Act) and Special Judge (E.C. Act), 2 courts of Additional District & Sessions Judge Ex-Cadre,9 courts of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Cadre including Chief Judicial Magistrate and 7 courts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) cadre.

Out of 28 courts, there are two outlying courts; Civil Judge (Junior Division) Haidergarh sitting at Haidergarh and Civil Judge(Junior Division) Ram Sanehi Ghat sitting at Barabanki.

District Civil Court Compound at Barabanki has been divided in 8 Blocks out of which District Judge Block and Civil Block are oldest,i.e. constructed in-1900 & 1908 respectively.

1. District Judge Block has Court of District & Sessions Judge, its office & Administrative Office of District Judge.

2. Nyay Bhawan-

(a) Ground Floor has six courts namely Courts of Additional District & Sessions Judge Court No. 1,2,6,8 and Court of Special Judge (SC/ST Act) & Special Judge (EC Act).

(b) First floor also has six courts namely Court of Additional District & Sessions Judge Court No. 4,5,9 and Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court No. 12,17 & 25.

(c) Second floor has Library & Offices of 15 Courts.

1. Chief Judicial Magistrate Block has 4 courts namely Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court No.11, Additional Civil Judge(Junior Division) Court No. 22 & 26 & Offices of Central Nazarat & Account Section of District Court

1.Munsif Block has two courts namely Court of Civil Judge(Junior Division) Barabanki & Civil Judge(Junior Division) Ram Sanehi Ghat .

1.FTC Block I has three courts namely Court of Additional District & Session Judge Ex Cadre Court No. 34 and 35 & Additional Chief Judicial MagistrateCourt No. 16.

2.FTC Block II has two courts namely Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court No. 19 & Additional Civil Judge(Junior Division) Court No. 21.

1. Civil Block has three courts namely Court of Civil Judge(Senior Division), Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Court No. 23 & Judicial Magistrate Court No. 27 and Record Room.

2. FTC Block III has Offices of Court No.14,26,27 & the Offices of the District Legal Service Authority, Search & Inspection, Police Copying & Central Copying Section of the District Court.
